8 surprising signs your gut needs help!

A lot of people have been saying “my gut health is fine!” …but I disagree (with most.)

“Gut issues” are more than just farting a lot, constipation + stomach aches.
Symptoms are messages from your body. They aren’t always loud and obvious! They can be just enough to annoy you every day, but not totally ruin your life.

The thing is, your life can completely CHANGE when you actually start paying attention to what your body is telling you and address your surprising gut issues. You might not realize how bad you felt until you realize how AMAZING you can feel with a good gut.

We are going to cover 8 signs your gut needs help.

1. Chronic dieting (and or under-eating): Intentionally following restrictive diets, skipping breakfast, and forgetting to eat isn’t as cute, fun or quirky as you might things! When your body isn’t nourished properly, your body adapts, but in this case, it isn’t a good thing! As your body tried to adapt to the lack of nourishment, your metabolism slows, down along with your digestion. Your body is under serious stress when there’s chronically low fuel in your tank!

2. No appetite upon waking: If your digestion is sluggish, you may feel full, nauseated, or have zero appetite in the morning. When your gut is out of balance isn’t always able to provide you with the cues it should - like feeling hungry in the morning! Skipping breakfast (even if it feels like ‘listening to your body’) is a BIG no-no. It truly is the most important meal of the day. It sets you up for a speedy metabolism, no cravings, healthy hormones and cycles and good gut health. You need to address the root cause of the digestive dysfunction so you start to get your hunger cues back to fuel your body and ENJOY breakfast again! Find the root cause so your body can send you proper signals so you can treat your body right.

3. “It’s like I’m wiping a marker.” Do you ever wipe and wipe and wipe and wipe… like Andy from Parks and rec? Like 100 times. This gives us a few clues, poor fat digestion, liver/gallbladder dysfunction, and your pancreas needs support to name a few! Your liver and gallbladder play important roles in the digestion of fat! When they aren’t working optimally, you may find yourself with sticky stools…. wiping and wiping and wiping and wiping……

4. Bad PMS + painful periods:
if you aren’t pooping daily (+ feeling complete after) hormones like estrogen are being recirculated leading to painful periods! Pain FREE periods are possible!

5. Seasonal + environmental allergies: You take Reactine on the reg. This is a sign your immune system is in overdrive! 80% of your immune system is in the gut!

6. Food sensitivities, intolerances: it’s not the food that’s the problem… it’s your gut! Your food sensitivities don’t have to be a life sentence! Food sensitivities don’t always manifest with digestive issues - maybe in ways like headaches, your mood, breakouts, acid reflux, joint pain…

7. Skin issues. Hives, rashes, eczema, breakouts tell us your immune system (most of which is in your gut!) is shouting for help. Your gut lining needs some help!

8. Taking birth Control: we aren’t always made aware of the negative impacts birth control can have on our gut health. It can impact your gut bacteria, depletes you of nutrients (many that are important for gut health!) can lead to gut permeability (“leaky” gut) + slows down your digestion. This can lead to worse hormonal issues in the long run!

There’s so much more to these signs than we can’t cover in one blog post. This is just the tip of the iceberg!

Digestion is a CRUCIAL foundation for optimal health✨ When something goes wrong it leads to obvious “gut issues” or some of the not so obvious signs.
